Dubias Roaches

The Dubia cockroach is found in Central and South America. They are common from French Guyana and Brazil to Argetina.

Dubia cockroaches have become popular for feeding reptiles and amphibians because they are a high quality herp food source that is easier to raise than crickets. Dubia are a meaty roach with a soft body which contain a much higher ratio of protein to indigestible chitin compared to crickets.

The Dubia Roach can be fed to:

Arachnids, Bearded Dragons, Frogs, Centipede’s, Lizards, Mantis, Monitors, Salamanders, Scorpions, Sugar Gliders and Turtles

They breed in drier conditions than many other roaches and produce little odor. They are

calm and easy to handle for feeding. They do not make any noise which is another reason they are becoming much more popular than crickets. Instead of having an escaped cricket forcing you to go "camping" at home, if you drop a roach they are easy to catch.

Compared to other roaches, they are exceptionally poor climbers and cannot climb glass or plastic; they can, however, climb silicone used to seal fish tanks.

Compared to crickets, dubia roaches are quiet, don't smell, don't jump out of the enclosure, are less picky eaters, are more hardy. But they mature more slowly.

Two Leo eggs

Leopard geckos season is going steadily. My Leopard laid another 2 more eggs. So cool. Its only early of the years and 3 babies leo already hatched and now this. I guess my reptiles room will be full of leopard geckos soon.

2 fertile Leopard Gecko eggs

Just to show you guys a brief update on my last years Snow Motley corn that I hatched. She getting bigger and bigger every month and from my weighing her. She weight almost 300 grams as at 18thMarch2011.

0.1 Snow Motley Corn snakes
Born on 17/3/10

And an update on my 0.1 Mojave. The 0.1 Mojave stop eating since last month. She had been breed to my 1.0 Mojave only since last September.

So what do you guy think? Is she gravid. I think she is. She been refusing food since last month and yet I notice she didn't lose any weight in her body and look eventually getting bigger than before and also it seem like she been feeding of a jumbo rats although she been refusing several time, With all that sign. That in my own conclusion, I think she is indeed gravid.

As for the rest of the Female Ball Python. Didn't See any sign that they are gravid yet although most of the female refusing to feed now. Must got sign and behavior than you can assume that they are gravid and not by guessing even though they mated. Some Ball python even though had mated yet still wont be gravid. Time will tell and hopefully one by one will show sign soon.. I so need Super Mojave In my collection. What about you?

Setting up aquarium tank for my daughter

My wife been nagging me for the past few week for me to set up an aquarium tank in the house so my little daughter can look at the fish swimming around. It started when i brought my little daughter to pets shop just few weeks ago. My little daughter was attracted to the fish in the aquarium that been display. She keep repeating PISH PISH PISH as I had shown her baby animal play card all the time and one of the card had fish in it
Luckily I had an empty aquarium tank in the house. It took me sometimes too to clean the aquarium n scrubbing all the dirt in the tank which I previously use that aquarium tank to house my bearded dragon. Since that beardie I had move her in bigger toyogo box and the aquarium had not been used for quite sometimes.

AquariumTiger barb, Black Tentra and Rosy Barb
Color Tentra

I not really fancy in keeping fish as pets as its required a lot of attention but since Its for my daughter happiness so I just go for it. I'm not really into those expensive super red arowana and those predator fish and fish that grow big. So we just decided to keep smaller fish that can be house together which is very cheap which I bought for B$1 a pieces and I bought 19pieces to fill in that tank. Also I purchased the tank cover, water filter and some others accessories. Overall I spend more than B$100+..(Shit)..like that also cause me $100+.

Stabilizing the fish Before I release it.
Fish Happily in tank

After releasing all 19 fish, I think it still look empty with that 3 feet tank. Maybe I should add some more fishes in there. Will love to add angel fish and (Ikan sepat) dont know what it call in English, Maybe Spot Gourami I think. Now with reptiles and fishes. Haiya, Cleaning day will take more of my time. But It worth it. My daughter happy then I'm more happier. World greatest dad lah kata kan..

So I have total of 36 eggs Corn eggs so far which I expected to hatch in March/April. Also I Still have one more female expected to lay maybe early March or so and Hopefully maybe the hondo project also show result.

36 corn eggs
Milk snakes laid 7 eggs, But one slug and one double egg gone bad. Had to throw that away and now left with 5 eggs.

The juvenile Leopard geckos had start eating now after it hatched last 22nd Jan 2011.

And what with the weather nowadays. My 0.1 Mojave got Respiratory Infection(R.I) SHIT. Just notice it. Saw some bubble and watery fluid on his mouth and nose. Luckily I think its not that severe, I think he just got the infection just recently.

1.0 Mojave
Heat Lamp

Mojave now on treatment. Luckily I got reptaid on me, Don't know how effective this reptaid and hopefully it is good as that was recommended for reptiles treatment. Basically its good also to had everything well prepared when keeping any reptiles. Never know we might need it someday even how careful we are. We as human too sometimes get sick. so what more reptiles. Those heat lamp is to be used to warm the snakes up, from few article I read, that warming up the sick reptiles can speed up healing process. Why not just try it.
For my Ball python projects, They still locked here n then. Just wait for it to pop.
